The Unsolved Murder of Angie Barlow

October the 26th, 2016, the time is 11.45pm. Mona Jackson receives a snapchat message from her roommate Angie Barlow. It read:

Doing a private dance at this address just in case I go missing lol

Accompanying the text was a picture of Angie, smiling in what appeared to be a bathroom.

It’s the last time she would be seen or heard from alive. In June 2017 an anonymous tipoff lead to a badly decomposed body being dug up in an Indianapolis backyard. It is identified as Angie Barlow.

Angie and the Mystery Text

Angie worked as a professional dancer who occasionally performed at private parties. Usually the money was good and she enjoyed the work. This gig however, was a little different from the beginning.

The text she received booking the private dance was implying a girlfriend surprising her boyfriend with the dance. It gave the address of the apartment and a time to arrive, but no name.

When Angie did not return home the next day, Mona Jackson called Angie’s mother, Christina Kramer. She and her husband immediately filed a missing persons report with the police.

The police studied CCTV footage from near the address of the private party. Angie’s blue Pontiac G6 can be seen leaving the apartment complex at 3.29am, directly followed by a black car.

None of the drivers are visible, however the license plate of the black car quickly led them to Raven Miller. The lady who booked Angie to perform for her boyfriend, Baron McCullough.

You can see the resulting news segment with the CCTV footage below:

Stranger still

Angie had previously dated Baron McCullough. She knew both of them, although there was allegedly no love lost between them. Angie’s family and friends believe that if she had known who was hosting the party, there is absolutely no way she would have gone.

Police questioned Raven and Baron. They told the police that Angie had been there but had left with somebody else. With no evidence or anything else directly linking them to Angie’s disappearance, they were let go.

Shortly after, they moved to Phoenix in Arizona.

Twelve days after Angie’s disappearance, her car was found. Just over 8 miles from the apartment block where the private party was booked. The car was damaged with cracks on the windscreen and marks to the paint. But no sign of Angie.

A break in the case

Months go by and despite Angie’s family offering a reward of 5000 dollars for information, the case grows cold. Until someone withdraws $8000 from the account of Angie’s grandmother Sharon Barlow. Arresting four people for the theft, they are questioned in connection with Angie’s case but cannot be linked to her.

Just four weeks later, there is a break in the case. An anonymous tip professes to know exactly where Angie is buried. The police have to take it seriously. Arriving at the home where Angie is reported to be buried, they find a new home owner. He explains he has just moved in and that the house was derelict for a long period of time.

They also discover the house has been rented previously by relatives of Baron McCullough.

Digging where they have been instructed to, the police find a badly decomposed body. Using tattoos as a reference, the body is quickly identified as that of Angie Barlow. The discovery is less than 10 miles from where she went missing that fateful night.

Since then, the case has not progressed at all. Police believe that Angie may have been murdered at the apartment and moved in her own car. But they have not revealed the cause of death or any suspects linked to the case.

So the question remains, Who killed Angie Barlow and why?
